Liminaridade
Liminality

Liminality
The transitional stage in rites of passage in which the subject has left their prior identity but has not yet been incorporated into the new one, the generative phase of the ritual process.
Arnold van Gennep identified the liminal phase as the central stage of rites of passage: the period of being between, in which the initiate has left their prior identity but has not yet been incorporated into the new category. Victor Turner deepened the concept, arguing that liminality is the generative phase of the ritual process, the condition under which new structure becomes possible.
The liminal subject, temporarily stripped of their prior category, is in a state of maximum availability for reorganization.
